XAVIA'S CLASSROOM

Hooked on Crochet is a space for all to enjoy sharing their projects! One of our favorite creations to teach is Amigurumi where we crochet magical creatures and unique patterns together. Each week, we either work on something new, or we pick up where we left off on a project that we are working to complete together. You can be a beginner, advanced, or somewhere in between. We take the time to help everyone along at his/her own pace, and in between classes we send out videos or clips learning how to do a new stitch. Then, we practice the new stitches in class! This is a great place to meet fellow creative learners and have fun laughing while we make incredible things!  Each week we send out an announcement of what we will be creating in class and you can either follow along in the group project (a list of needed supplies will be sent out to you), or you can come to class with your own project! Below are some ideas of what we might do:

• Create your own washcloth! (beginner level; 1-4 weeks)

• Let's Crochet a Heart! (beginner level; 1-3 weeks)

• Octopus Creations! (intermediate level; 3-5 weeks)

• Create your own Pocket Lion! (intermediate level; 3-5 weeks)

• What a Hoot! Let's make an Owl! (intermediate level; 3-5 weeks)

• Nagini! Let's make Nagini the Snake! (intermediate; 3-5 weeks)

• Nessie the Loch Ness Monster! (intermediate; 3-5 weeks)

• Percy the Pelican! (intermediate-advanced; 4-6 weeks)

• Let's make a Baby Dragon! (intermediate-advanced; 4-6 weeks)

• Let's Crochet a Tiny Tiger! (intermediate-advanced; 4-6 weeks)

• Let's Crochet Baby Yoda (aka Grogu)!! (advanced; 5-6 weeks)

• And So Much More!!!

Notice that the time to complete (above) may be less, it just depends on the student. These times are an estimate, but it may take your student more or less time to learn, and that's okay! The journey is the fun part!

Everyone gets a chance to share their creations and engage in helping others. This class lasts 45 minutes per week and is expected to fill up fast. We work hard to make sure that everyone has the help and support that they need, and we send videos, tutorials, and other ideas throughout the week to help the student even while they are outside of class. Depending on the student's skill level will depend on whether or not they spend outside-class time working on the project. The goal is to have fun, build confidence, have a sense of accomplishment, and have fun! I guide the class with structure and will respond to emails, texts, and messages as soon as possible outside of class-time. We want to make sure that each student feels confident moving forward. In addition, some benefits of crochet is that it helps with focus, it may help with reducing stress or anxiety, it may promote relaxation and calm the mind, and helps to build self-esteem! With the repetitive motions and concentration required, crochet can also help sharpen focus and cognitive skills!

*Please note that there may be some outside supplies that are needed for this class, such as yarn, crochet hooks, scissors, measuring tape, stitch markers, etc. Please reach out if you need any assistance deciding what to buy if you are a beginner.
